From September to October 2023, we were honoured to launch the first edition of our Restoring Hope, Health, and Rights (RHHaR) initiative, an essential step in our mission to improve access to quality health information for vulnerable populations in Cameroon. With the support of the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (FCIL) through the High Commission of Canada to Cameroon, we kicked off the project with an inspiring expert retreat in Yaoundé. This event brought together healthcare professionals, advocates, and community leaders to share knowledge, spark meaningful discussions, and strengthen partnerships. Together, we explored innovative ways to make health information more accessible to those who need it most.

On the ground, we held the first workshop in Bertoua, training over  20 health professionals on key topics, including mental health, human rights, and ethical patient care. These sessions were informative, interactive and engaging, wrapping up with a football match that helped build connections and boost team spirit.

Recognising that communities are at the heart of everything we do, we continued our outreach learning sessions for vulnerable groups in Yaoundé and Bertoua. The lessons covered life-saving information on sexual and reproductive health, mental well-being, and the right to health access for all. These community sessions allowed us to listen, learn, and empower individuals with the tools they need to navigate their health journeys confidently while accessing accurate health information.

The success of this first edition of the RHHaR strengthened our resolve to keep pushing forward. We remain grateful to all the participants, partners, and supporters who joined us on this journey, restoring hope, improving outcomes, and protecting the rights of the most vulnerable in our health system.
